If you’re wondering what happened to John Doe, I’ve deleted his comments on this section of the site.
He may have had good points to make, but I’m awfully protective about the tenor of this website, I love what’s been started here. My personal bias, my switch against posts that make me feel as if someone is bringing personal anomalies to the site is spring-loaded to the Delete position.

I share your gut feeling – you may delete those two posts of mine as well, as they´re pointless without the previous posts.

thank you Richard I feel safer now—it’s like a dressing room here and it’s hard to let people come tramping in and smushing up everything and putting on my clothes…

I confess I am a little relieved. Being on a different timescale to most here I have gaps in time and, as I’d subscribed to the email updates my in box was going mad! Part of the beauty of this space is that it isn’t cluttered in the way that many public chat spaces are… Thank you for protecting this special space.
Another part of me, I must confess, was laughing with his outpouring, and reasoning and enthusiasm – I hope he finds another outlet

I have faith flying in a craft
maintained so well as this one.
Though the thought occurred:
WE are not yet Shimoda’s biplane.
Perhaps one day.

Richard,
Could you please give a little more description about “personal anomalies” and what they are? I want to make sure that I do not do what John Doe did. I LOVE this family and would be heartbroken if it went away for me. I would, of course, be okay if it did go away, just want to make sure that if there are things I can do to make sure that does not happen, that I do them!

I am just looking for a little clarity on what is not acceptable. I know that at the very beginning you said we would know what unacceptable is once we were banned from the site. I do not want to be banned to find out!

Thank you much!

PS~Anyone that knows the answer can reply!!!

Have a great day/evening guys! Off I go! Big Hugs!

Coleen, I think the fact that you are still here is evidence that you are doing just fine.

I think if you would like to meet the expectations, you won`t be Coleen any more. Just do the same like you did before!

Soon as those euphemistic “anomalies” are defined, loopholes appear elsewhere: “I didn’t _mean_ to skew the spirit of the site!”
I had a sense — something’s not quite right — with Mr. Doe, but acted way late, and I apologize to you for letting the trample escalate so far as it did.
I’m talking now with Webmaster about firewalls, perhaps making this a subscription-only site.
All suggestions about moats and drawbridges, soundproofings for our little chalet from the screech and static of the Internet, are welcome.

Richard, I might have mentioned a dragon. But come to find out, they are very hard to handle. Bears are fine. Perhaps a small cadre of ferrets?
I’m loathe to go all “commercial” about this, but perhaps a subscription-only site (and I do mean that in the same sense as a newspaper or magazine subscription) would resolve two issues…the one posed in “Question for my Visitor” and the apparent need to maintain the drawbridge.

Sharon..I could swing that I think…but its going to be tricky for the outside to accept, no? And then what if we get a John Doe again…will he have the right then to be there? Walking on thin ice…..let’s continue brainstorming……

Well, I used to belong to a yahoo site that had a moderator, and you had to be approved before you could post. (It’s still in operation, but I chose to withdraw) Perhaps since this is Richard’s site, such really isn’t necessary. As long as Richard owns the site, he has final say, and NO one has a “right” to be here, save for him. It’s not usenet, if you know what that is! I think as long as we “self-moderate”, expressing concerns when they arise, we should be ok. Right?

Thank you for the reminder Sharon and Barbus!!!!

Fortunately, I missed the John Doe posts — saw them, but prioritized other things over reading them, perhaps a good thing.

Sharon mentioned the compound word, “self-moderate.” Though none of us, nor surely Richard want to have to do such a thing, perhaps we can lead by example.

For those of you who’ve read the _Ferret Chronicles_, you’ll understand what I say when I suggest that if we live by the ferret courtesies, we have nothing to worry about. And, if you haven’t read them yet, please do. They’re beautiful little stories with so much to teach us about many things.

I do hope, Richard, that more of these characters someday tell us their stories. They’ve still so much more to teach us and we so much more to learn.

And how do you feel now?

Does it still feel like a family?
