Oh, okay, my physical ego mind self didn’t know that because it’s 2000mi away in California (but it would like to visit there sometime).

Hah, I like that! “The eternal optimism of ‘You betcha!”…..

Thought Capacitor, I was about to write a long repartee (and duplicate in 5 part harmony for Drew who might have a musical instrument waiting) about what an abysmal failure I was at this little set of 2 exercises. Then I remembered a conversation I had today with someone 20 years my junior at work. We began with the usual bemoaning of circumstance and out of the blue I told her I was GRATEFUL for some of the awful things about to beset me concerning the behemoth company I work for in Sacramento. She eyed me suspiciously at first but I went on with an old Indian saying: ‘Don’t pray for no problems, pray for better quality problems’. We both lightened up instantly and I thought of this little thread. (the rest of the experiment I think I may have totally failed at LOL!) ….but, maybe not as much as first thought, if that makes any sense. It’s still in the back of my mind.

I would like to point out (maybe others feel this way) …I feel that any negativity inside of me DOES need to come out and THEN I can carry on with you betcha! Perhaps I’ll find a nice way of….transmuting it on the spot. (dianne)

wolfranch – that’s great! I think humor is another good way to connect with the Is. And I know, it’s a tough exercise! Shows how set we can be in our ways of thinking. It’s hard for me to stick with it for very long either, so don’t feel bad. My partner and I have decided that we’ll try it on our next little vacation, when we’re not in such a hurry to get info across to each other all the time, and have more time to relax and think about what we’re really trying to say. Also, it does help to get the negativity out first, then I’m completely fine afterwards and I forget all about it. But I guess the eventual goal is to be at the level where negativity isn’t even in the picture (thinking of what Deb said regarding Drew’s stick-balancing video in The Power of Visualization thread–if he had dropped them, he wouldn’t get angry, he’d just accept it and start over because he’s in the experience/the zone/Now). That’s a good saying about the quality problems, by the way, I’ll remember that one for later. :)

TC, thank you! I’ve been trying this a lot recently and have no idea why. I’m doing good to manage it for an evening or a few hours, but the results are amazing. Catching myself in mid-thought and turning the whole thing around to a positive is sometimes a major exercise in itself. In a similar vein, I like to try it on a day when I awake with the “suggestion accepted” that I feel bad. Well no I don’t, I feel great! And I _do_. With practice, I may actually remember that some lifetime or other. :)

Very cool! The more you practice the better you’ll get at staying in that state of mind. Amazing the power of positive thoughts, huh? :D
