I found my first quartz crystal at around age 9 in an old quarry in the Adelaide foothills, but it wasn’t until a lot later in life that I became aware that crystals also have vibrations and a consciousness that you can connect with. When I started with my formal training I sat down one evening with some clear quartz to practice listening to crystals and becoming familiar with the vibrations. I picked up a tumble tried to feel its energy and then put it down, next a point and then I picked up a double terminated faden quartz and immediately heard in my head ‘I’m more important than this’. I nearly dropped it it was so loud and clear. I apologised and started on a more humble and respectful relationship with the oldest kingdom, the mineral kingdom. |

Simon, LOL. It is good to distinguish the diamonds from the schist |

Maybe I kicked out a lot of diamonds out of my way when I thought it is schist |

Schist is metamorphic – transformed. One of the oldest bedrocks in New York it provides stability and supports the Manhattan sky scrapers. Who needs diamonds… |

Just realised I hadn’t included a picture yet! So here’s natural citrine to supply the gold to go with the diamonds. |

Right now on my nightstand is an 4″ chunk of an amethyst geode, atop which rests my clear quartz meditation crystal. Around my neck I wear a pendant made of tourmaline and amethyst…I’ve worn it for over 20 years. |

For unknown reasons, at this moment a collection of beautiful clear crystal quartz monoliths adorn the area by my door along with flourite, orange citrine, orange calcite, and a blue celestine geode. The black tourmaline sits atop the small ledge over the kitchen sink in my small studio apartment. Each has it’s own personality. The orange citrine is my favorite so far. I’d love to learn more of what to do with them. |

Hey Deb!! I’m here. Had to go to work and you lot got started without me. Now for probably my second favourite subject (the first being my 4 legged boys). As I said I have been collecting since I was about 10, in my early 30′s did a crystal workshop and have had fun with them ever since – about 30 years. I enjoy doing crystal healing as I seem to get as much or more from it than the person having it. I wear a nephrite pendant (New Zealand greenstone – Maori name pounamu) and have done for 30 years. I also wear a number of gold rings two of which have stone in them, one is pounamu and the other is citrine. Also wear stone earrings but change them nearly every day. Dianne – one of my favourite collections is my calcite one. I have just about every colour every found. Have you ever seen the dog tooth calcite ?- I have a number of them, meditation is so much easier for me with those. With your orange one (particularly if it is a strong orange colour) it can be used at the third eye chakra. Orange is usually the colour for the solar plexus chakra, however I have used it elsewhere. I also have an extensive range of tourmaline colours. Tourmaline is very powerful, your calcite is much gentler, it will work at your pace, whereas the tourmaline will give you a boot in the bottom. I work in an aged care facility (lifestyle staff). I did a program last Friday where I took in some of my favourite pieces. One of those is a beautiful celestite cluster. I would love a trip to Madagascar (? spelling) there is so much wonderful rock that comes from there and is found no where else in the world, including the celestite. Sharon. What colour is the tourmaline with your amethyst pendant? Deb. I need some advice please. What would you recommend for severe sleep apnoea? This ‘healer’ is having problems healing herself. Keep the pictures coming. Cheers Glenice |

Hi Glenice – now you’ve put me on the spot! My style of healing is not to assign solutions to crystals or to work with symptoms – so to answer your specific question I would need to tune in to you first and work with you as an individual, the causes etc. Would be really happy working with you on a distance basis if you’d like? It would be really fun actually as I’d like to swap and learn about your healing too. (I’ve added my website into my profile so you can contact me there if you’d like – and so I can edit it out later if need be). I’m just conscious I don’t want to be body bagged for straying too far from this forum’s remit…hope thats ok. Like you I find the energy of the madagascan crystals amazing – they really are in a class all of their own aren’t they? Beautiful. And the coloured tourmaline really is a deep – right to where its needed type of energy. And i keep amethyst by my bed too Sharon. But I have a really easy answer to the question ‘which is your favourite crystal?’. – ‘Its the one I’m holding at the moment’. I had a rose quartz crystal in a necklace that jumped out at me when I went into a shop I didn’t know was there, after turning down a street I didn’t want to go down. I wore this for years, never took it off. After many, many , many years had passed I eventually got round to starting some training in crystal healing. Several days before the course started I started getting throat problems and shortness of breath – I was devastated to be starting a healing course as such of a wreck. The night before the course I was lying in the bath feeling very sorry for myself and a voice came into my head (the same one that insisted I read Illusions!) and said ‘take your necklace off’. After wearing this for so long you can imagine i really didn’t want to! To cut a long story short though, I did. My neck and breathing problems stopped almost instantly – I started a new journey and the hard working crystal that had been looking after me all those years started a well earned rest … I saw a programme about the green nephrite (jade?) where someone was showing how the ‘paddle shapes’ of these stones are / were polished by the maoris turning these in their hands. It was beautiful – a form of meditation / oneness with all things type of act I should imagine as it would take so many ‘turns’ to polish it, sitting there by the river…. another lovely stone. (After today I’m away from the internet for 5-6 days) |

Glenice: Thanks for the bit about calcite being gentler than tourmaline. No, I have not yet heard of dog tooth variety though it sounds interesting. I loose my mind in rock shops and crystal shops. Then I’m helpless when I get them home. My orange calcite is so intense you could almost eat it! It’s about 5 inches square half inch thick cut with rough natural on one side and smooth cut on the other. I’m a little dense so perhaps I SHOULD start with the tourmaline? |

Jennifer: depends on your level of self-restraint. There might be people who can come home from a mineral shop or fair having bought only one or two items…I´m not one of them. Not a very good picture – but that was the outcome of my last I´m-only-going-to-look-visit of a mineral fair… |
